CompactPCI is the newest specification for PCI-based industrial computers.
It is electrically a super-set of desktop PCI with a different physical
form factor. Compact PCI utilizes the Eurocard form factor popularized by
the VME bus.
The CPCI-U2S/LAN, dual purpose I/O board combines leading
technologies from both Intel and Symbios to achieve the highest performance
available in the Compact PCI arena.
The CPCI-U2S/LAN utilizes Intel's unique 82558
single-chip Ethernet controller, integrating the MAC and PHY chips into one,
to provide the latest technology 10BaseT/100BastTX Ethernet controller.
The adanced onboard Symbios SYM 53C895 Ultra 2 SCSI
controller provides 80MB per second transfer rate, doubling that of Ultra
Wide SCSI. With LVDlink (Low Voltage Differential) technology, SCSI cable
lengths are extended up to 12-meters, compared to SCSI-2's 3-meters and
Ultra Wide SCSI's 1-meter limitations.
The CPCI-U2S/LAN is an ideal solution for I/O intensive applications
such as, servers connecting to RAID subsystems, video servers, or high-end
workstations requiring maximum throughput.
